  • What do you drive?

Thought it'd be interesting to see what everyone uses to cruise around the islands :P

2007 Acura RDX in Carbon Grey Pearl
240 HP from an iVtec 4 cylinder variable flow turbo
0-60 MPH in under 7 seconds
1/4 mile in under 15 from a dead stop

Not bad for an SUV that weighs 4000 pounds! This car has some great handling and power on the road. I love it!

Haha, I was looking to see if there was a thread on this already but I didn't translate "whip" into "car" :P

                http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Whip

"When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the "whip". The whip is what you used to control the horses on a stagecoach, hence the analogy. Many years later, various hip hop artists noticed that the Mercedes-Benz logo resembled a steering wheel. They then proceeded to use the old term "whip" to describe any Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The term has now been generalized to classify any expensive automobile."

                    Re: What do you drive?

My boulevard cruiser is a 1996 Acura RL. I've had it for nearly seven years and have put on 100K miles since getting it off a lease-return. The only reasons to replace it are: 1) I've used up the depreciation for business purposes, and 2) I'm looking at a large maintenance bill by year's end ($1500 to replace the struts, $600 for tires, $500 for major service). Plus, the molding around my moonroof is starting to rust. And, my CD-changer is located in the trunk, not in the dash. But, I'm likely to keep it as a spare car instead of trading. I'd never to be able to get a better car for it's "trade value."

The "boss" has her 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan, which has been most useful for Costco and Home Depot runs, airport pick-ups when my sister and her brood fly in from the Big Island, and general tooling around.

The third car is a 1996 Honda Accord which is the mini-Acura: four-door, white, gas-saver with it's four-cylinder engine. But, it has an after-market spoiler, a bit larger than the dealer-installed option. The kids drive it.

Nice Mazda CX-9 shown above. I'm going to give that or its "little brother," the CX-7, a good look.

As I mentioned in the original thread about vehicles, I will never understand hip-hop culture. To me it is either a car, a truck, SUV, motorbike, or whatever... never have and never will be a "whip".

A whip is what Indiana Jones uses in the movies.
                      I'm still here. Are you?

Still got the 1994 Saturn SC-1 - less than 60K on it.
