    Great, my brother is in one of the most dangerous cities for a couple more years. No wonder he shaved and grew a beard. LOL

    Not all of Detroit is dangerous. But like any other city, there are some parts of town (the inner city) where even the police are reluctant to venture into. I think your bro's facial hair growth is more a reflection of wanting to blend in with his friends than it is protection against physical violence.

    And the safest cities are by nature smaller, and more rural, and generally inhabited by upper middle class people (bedroom communities of larger cities) or college towns.
