Re: Hawai'i's Water Supply
Or just buy one
If you add three drops of Clorox per gallon of water you can kill most bacteria.
I have two 5,000 gallon catchment tanks and as of tonight, they're overflowing right now with the rain we're getting in Keaau on the Big Island. When full I add a cup of clorox to each tank then with a sediment and charcoal filtering system and a PUR tap faucet the water is safe to drink.
On Oahu I can't imagine not putting in a small catchment tank (2500 gallon) for irrigation or washing cars/clothes. I think all new developments anywhere should incorporate some level of catchment system for non-potable use. And with the right filteration you can make it potable.
