I read in the paper KHET's OTA transmitter will be down from 5AM-5PM today.
I wonder if this has anything to do with their HDTV upgrade.

Actually is just house cleaning by KGMB. KHET shares it's analog transmitter with KGMB.
KHET submitted paperwork for it's DT license to the FCC on May 12th and just needs the okay to begin transmitting.
KHET-DT will transmit from Palehua Ridge above Makakilo with 9.5kw on Ch.18.
