thot twould be inconvenient for you. besides, as good as that brunch was, i know you get better prosciutto and ratatouille where you're at!
brunch today was zaru soba for me. eric ordered salmon kama (grilled salmon collars) with sides of okara, small zaru soba, really great quality sushi rice, red miso soup, tsukemono (i had bites of everything he ordered) plus side orders of mirugai kushiyaki (grilled geoduck) and tekka maki, all from yohei sushi not far from where auntie lynn lives.

I just had bacon and eggs with toast > shared with my brother. Sure,,, I know where my friend Auntie Lynn is. What a marvel she is. ![]() As for me, I live in England so it's difficult for me to get the ingredients recipies which are sent by friends on O'Hau. Sad to say ! I go to our China town ( which is the oldest one in Europe) They can't always comply. I sort of 'make do' and haven't poisoned any of my family/friends. What an opportunity for an enterprising Hawaiin. To come to England and open up a restaurant. |

I had iced coffee, like I always do. I premake it the day before and let it chill.
I always make breakfast for my hub, tho. This morning, I made a mushroom & cheese omelet, fried potatoes and 1/2 chicken sausage. Oh, and coffee sweetened with condensed milk. |

LOTs & Lots of Coffee with coffee ice cubes!!!!! Orange juice, blueberries
and spaghetti carbonara leftover from the other night (Italy's ham & eggs!). There is no cream or butter in real carbonara hence the eggs & bacon! |

Took advantage of the holiday to have a late morning brunch with my 92-year-young auntie. Took her to one of her favorite places, the Original Pancake House at Waiakamilo/Dillingham.
She had crispy bacon & eggs scrambled soft, w/ buckwheat pancakes. I had the strawberry belgian waffle piled high w/ whipped cream, and a side of bacon. And both of us drank more of their terrific coffee than we probably should have, LOL. *hyper caffeinated* ![]()

i took inspiration from a traditional okinawan champuru and made a scramble of bittermelon, tuna and tomato over brown rice. given bittermelon's health benefits and the fact that i didn't use oil, i'm feeling food-virtuous.
meh. except i used whole eggs, not just the whites. ah well.

let's try this again.
we got out of bed quite early considering how late we'd been out last night (which explains why i'm going to nap right after posting) so we decided to head to whole foods for their $8.99/lb breakfast bar. ![]() half of whole foods breakfast bar, going clockwise from lower right: smokey pork links; thick, apple smoked bacon; scrambled eggs; scrambled eggs whites; breakfast croissants (i should have taken a closer look at what was in em--i'm guessing ham & eggs); corn meal biscuits; eggs scrambled w/spinach & mushrooms. the other half of the bar had the grains/starches: home fries, oatmeal, brown rice, etc. i'm pretty sure i saw sausage gravy but i had to run away from that. ![]() eric's plate of bacon, egg whites with fresh salsa, brown rice, sausage and home fries. ![]() my plate of bacon, quiche, spinach/mushroom scramble, cornbread biscuit with softened butter & peach jam, chunks of yellow beet salad, chunks of cataloupe & mandarin oranges. i apologize for the fact that you can't see the fresh peach salsa i put on my scramble. i really should have gotten more of that peach salsa bcs it was an absolutely fruity-spicy delight. total cost came out to about $19. besides sharing our plates, we shared a large latte from the in-store coffee bar (allegro coffee) that cost under $4 (iirc) and definitely tastes better what charbucks just down the way sells.

I've never been at Whole Foods during the morning hours... is this their everyday setup? Or is this only on the weekends? And what hours? As for myself, breakfast was a strawberry slush float at Byron’s Drive Inn, while waiting for my Japanese friends to clear U.S. Customs at the airport. Finally got partial satisfaction for the craving I’ve had since the other discussion in the plate lunch thread. It fell just short of total satisfaction, because Byron's used soft serve rather than real ice cream. But it was good enough… for the time being! ![]()
