What the heck? A Lei Liko sighting in the same week as a cynsaglia sighting?

I pop in every now and then to read, but don't get to post too much because of the job and the new apartment.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The only album I would add to that list is Famous Speeches by George W. Bush. Anything by those groups ALWAYS calms my nerves and puts me to sleep.

As noted before, I have only a 1GB player - I fill it with podcasts and new CDs that I've bought, listen through 'em then delete and refill.

I've just started listening through a 30-disc set of works by classical composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. I expect to be caught up in that for the next few weeks.

Transferred more songs to the iPod Shuffle today, the count is at 200 songs, using up 477 Mbytes of storage on this 1G byte model. To play the entire collection will take about 8.2 hours.

It would be interesting to see what happens when I reached the limit of 240 songs and still have usable space left over on the unit.

I'm almost certain the number of songs is an estimate, not a limit.

The number of songs one can store on an iPod include factors such as length of song and even the file type. If you have mostly AAC files then you probably can store more vs. MP3. On my low end 512 MB 1st gen iPod Shuffle, the advertised capacity was 120 songs.. reality sets in at about 88 to 94 songs if most of your songs are at around 4 minutes each.
                    I'm still here. Are you?

Loaded more songs into my iPod Shuffle today. Count is at 242 songs, used up 604.4 Mbytes out of 967 Mbytes and would take about 10.5 hours to play.

Makes one kind of wonder if I had taken a 2Gbyte model instead of the 1 GByte model, the battery only last 12 hours.

Although I can select from several genres, I am currently playing a large medley of Pacific Island music including Hawaiian, Tongan, and Cook Islands.

                            • Play Count

With the end of 2008 fast approaching, it is soon time for me to tally up all of the songs that got the most play on my iTunes according to the "play count" column of the software. At the beginning of the year I zeroed all of my songs and tracks on iTunes and decided to keep track of the count of how many times each track was played. Of course I have hundreds of playlists and make sure that I classify each track according to genre.

So for example after I zeroed out the play count in January, since that time the top 40 songs in the "rock" genre that got the most play are the following as of 12-30-08:

Rank - Title - Artist - Play Count

                              1 - Out Of Our Heads - Sheryl Crow - 67
                              2 - Busy Being Fabulous - The Eagles - 66
                              3 - All Summer Long - Kid Rock - 60
                              4 - Somebody - The Eagles - 59
                              5 - Gasoline - Sheryl Crow - 58
                              6 - How Long - The Eagles - 52
                              7 - If I Had Eyes - Jack Johnson - 50
                              8 - Apologize - OneRepublic - 46

                              11 - It's Not My Time - 3 Doors Down - 41

                              18 - I Do - Jewel - 33

                              28 - Wake Up Call - Maroon 5 - 26
                              29 - Rainy Monday - Shiny Toy Guns - 25
                              30 - Worry Number One - Chris Singleton - 24

                              31 - Accelerate - R.E.M. - 24
                              32 - Black/White - The Raveonettes - 24
                              33 - Underneath - Alanis Morissette - 23
                              34 - Second Option - Caitlin Cary And Thad Cockrell - 21
                              35 - Sleepy Tigers - Her Space Holiday - 21
                              36 - Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac - 20
                              37 - The Weight Of Her - Butch Walker - 19
                              38 - Come On Get Higher - Matt Nathanson - 19
                              39 - Lost Highway - Bon Jovi - 18
                              40 - Radio Nowhere - Bruce Springsteen - 18

The number posted at the next to the artist name represents how many times that track got played on my iTunes and iPods. The play count is updated everytime a track is played or an iPod is synched through iTunes.

So for 2008, my most played track in the rock genre is Sheryl Crow's "Out of Our Heads". The track was played 67 times this year.

I have the rock genres broken into smaller categories usually by year, so that I can offer a play count list of all the rock songs that I played this year from the decade of the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Anyone else seriously keep track of play counts in iTunes?

Anyone want to keep track of your play counts starting on Jan. 1, 2009?

I'll probably be zeroing out my iTunes on January 1 to start the play count over again.
                              I'm still here. Are you?

                              • Transfering songs

Help please with a question that I'm asking on behalf of one of the kids. It might have been discussed in this long thread already, if so my bad.
Anyway, is there a free way to get the songs from an IPod transfered to an IPod Touch? The kids are complaining that the "free" sites (downloadable programs) only work for a couple of songs, then the sites ask for a fee.
Private Message me if you'd rather not post online about this.
Thanks for helping ..... I figured some HTers would have this problem figured out already.
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.
