KGMB reported tonight that Alex O'Loughlin has been cast for the role of Steve McGarrett.

They'll probably do minimal local shoots and be mostly a mainland product.

They should do the opposite of LOST production shooting. Shoot indoor scenes in the Diamond Head studio but do location shooting in Vancouver (make Canada look like Hawaii, complete with snowy mountain range).

I think O'Laughlin will do ok - he's a good actor and is more than capable. I hope they don't try to "re-create" the characters. Merely re-cast them. and I'm very much looking forward to the new series. I got to appear in one of the shows (by accident) and my husband was also in several. I knew some of the actors and just hope they will just do the original series justice. Many of the original actors have passed away by now anyway - in fact, MOST of the actors.
