Great to see another radio station on the air. Let's hope this time management has the balls to program a winning format that appeals to the Honolulu audience. We will probably get another generic computerized format with no on-air talent, bottom line, no money spent, no money earned. Please program a format that Hawaii needs.

Erika Engle has an article in The Buzz today on KHAI. You folks better love Christian rock to listen to this station. I'm getting it loud and clear here in town and the transmitter is up in the Wahiawa.

Big noncommercial broadcaster is expanding format in Hawaii

The new KHAI will retransmit programming from Air 1's flagship station, KLRD-FM 90.1 in Yucaipa, Calif., according to Joe Miller, EMF chief financial officer.

Air 1 also airs from K214CY, a sort of repeater licensed to Maili at 90.7 FM.

I noticed that the low power station was taken off the FCC list. Air 1 programming has been available in Hawaii for several years now via that repeater and of course online. I can get it in the iTunes Radio tab along with many other Christian stations.

Actually, I still see K214CY on the list and it is active (as of 4 hours ago). The higher power KHAI has been down since at least 7am today, so I guess it's a good thing the 90.7 signal is still up.
