Well, if I'm in a nice comfortable place I'd like to "sky up" to the Beatles "A Day In The Life". And with some timing, I could take my final breath as that last big piano chord fades away.
If I'm in a snotty mood and not ready to go...then it's "Auf Wiedersehn" by Cheap Trick
Au revoir, auf wiedersehen
You wont see another morning
You wont see another evening
Good night
Buenos noches o senor
Senorita see ya later
Buenos noches bye-bye
There are many here among us
You feel that life is a joke
And for you we sing this final song
For you there is no hope
Sayonara oh suicide hari kari
Kamikaze you wont
See another evening
Goodbye
Bye-bye so long, farewell
See you later....(etc)
If I had my way, I'd have the soundtrack to Les Miserables in the CD player. There were quite a few death scenes in that musical, but the one I'd like to go out on is the finale (when Jean Valjean is escorted to heaven):
They will live again in freedom In the garden of the Lord. They will walk behind the plowshare, They will put away the sword, The chain will be broken And all men will have their reward!
Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Somewhere beyond the barricade Is there a world you long to see? Do you hear the people sing? Say, do you hear the distant drums? It is the future that they bring When tomorrow comes!
