Default Pizza Hut and Taco Bell?

Is it just us in Hawaii that has a Pizza Hut and Taco Bell together under one roof? Or do other places have it as seperate places of business?

It's that way in lots of places. Pizza Hut and Taco Bell (and KFC, for that matter) are owned by Yum! Brands, Inc., which is a Pepsi-Cola spin-off.

I've seen them together like that a lot on the mainland, especially at full service highwayside gas stations and at airports. In California, Kansas, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Texas, Utah, Washington, and possibly Baja. Within the past two years.

Yes they have it in Arizona like that, especially in the smaller towns.

Much like the Starbucks/Jamba connection and in California the Carl's Jr/Popeyes connection.

It's like that in other places too. As others have pointed out, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are owned by the same parent company. Where you see them combined is usually where a former standalone Pizza Hut restaurant stuggled with slow business.

I'm having a hard time recalling any freestanding Pizza Hut restaurants. Other than the fast-food co-location with Taco Bell, it seems as if all the Pizza Hut restaurants have converted to takeout/delivery.

It's a pretty growing trend to combine locations owned by the same head company into one.

Taco Bell and Pizza hut together is actually a pretty decent combo.

What we need here in Hawaii is an In-and-Out Burger/Church's chicken combo location :P

The same company also now has "WingStreet" connected to some "Pizza Hut" shops - I saw one of them in Mt. Vernon (WA) this past weekend.

In this area of the East Coast, (southern New England), KFC and Taco Bell are common duos. In fact, there is such a combo 2.5 miles from where I live. I see far more stand-alone Pizza Huts, without any co-franchising, around here.

It should also be pointed out that even in standalone Taco Bell restaurants, there's no escaping the menu convergence trend. I believe that all Taco Bells in Hawaii now offer personal pan pizzas (Pizza Hut) as well as chili-n-rice (Zippy's).

i have also seen Long John Silvers/A&W combo.
click here for a pic and info on YUM 2 under 1 roof franchising info.
PH/TB/KFC/LJS/A&W are under the parent co. yum

here Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are together, again same parent co.

And after several rebuffed attempts, Arby's has recently succeeded in acquiring Wendy's.

Thumbs down Run for the Border @ 2 a.m.

Okay, so I usually try to make it to the neighborhood Pizza Hut™/Taco Bell® location before midnight. In addition to the fact that they stop serving personal pan pizza after that, druggies on bicycles tend to start dropping like flies around the restaurant as the night wears on. Also, after 1 a.m., the line starts backing up big time.

But regardless of the time, I almost always order a #6 combo (which consists of a taco and two chalupas) with beef and nacho cheese. So this night, I was disturbed to find that I had been given two soft tacos instead. Luckily, I had not yet left McCully Shopping Center, so I turned right back into the drive-thru, to straighten things out.

I explained the error, and the drive-thru cashier offered “Yes, you wanted Gorditas, right?” I looked at the menu again. “No, I wanted chalupas. There is no gordita option in a #6 combo,” I explained, quite irritated.

So I exchange my soft tacos (which I assume were actually gorditas - I’ve never actually eaten a gordita before) for what appeared to be chalupas. When I get back home, low and behold there is chicken — freakin’ chicken — in my chalupas!!!

First of all, I had initially asked for beef and nacho cheese in my chalupas... which is what I always order. But even if the drive-thru cashier didn’t ask whether I preferred beef, steak, or chicken... the default should always be beef!

What the hell are these guys smoking?

I see KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut triumverates all over the east coast. Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins duos, as well.

Pizza Hut/Taco Bell/KFC is the largest fast-food business in the world, bigger than McDonalds.

Wow really? I thought mcdonalds is like the biggest among the fast food business. But I'd choose pizza hut, taco bell, or KFC over mcdonalds anyway. There's nothing really good in mcdonalds for me except chicken nuggets and mcflurry. Their burgers and french fries suck.

What's the hype with the McRib? It tastes like a manapua with an American style sauce.

Perhaps McD is largest when including the franchises? Yum also owns Long John Silvers and A&W aside from PH, TB, and KFC.

According to the Yum! Brands website and wikipedia:
Quote:
Yum! Brands, Inc., based in Louisville, Ky., is the world's largest fast food restaurant company in terms of system units — over 35,000 restaurants around the world in more than 110 countries and territories.
However, it may depend on how you look at it:
Quote:
McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) is the world's largest chain of fast food restaurants, serving nearly 47 million customers daily.
