Late 50's, Japanese programming. A child samurai would change into a kabuki type character with white robes and long red hair and could leap onto tall trees with just a hop and, of course, save people from the bad guys. Ooops. I guess I figured it was red hair. Our TV was b&w.
Barbara Lee hosted this local weekly variety show.

Speaking about Combat, and some shows from the 60's, 70's and 80's. There is channel called American Life. It's Digital Cable channel 604 (and I don't know if it's available on analog cable). They show Combat every week day at 2pm HST plus each day has a theme. I think Monday is Private Investagtor like 77 Sunset Strip, Harry O and something else, Tuesday is war hero like Combat, China Beach and The Galant Men, Wednesday is spy themed with I Spy, Man from UNCLE, Girl from UNCLE, Thursdays is Westerns which I can't remember which shows are on and Friday is police themed, like The FBI and Crime Story. They usually start at 3pm HST and repeat at 6pm HST.
American Life channel is not available on analog. So I don't get to watch those re-runs mentioned except for Crime Story (an excellent cop show) which I have on DVD.
