Oh Chu. If only you could have seen what I've seen, with your eyes.

I remember Mynah birds being common around Lihue and Hilo. It wasn't until I moved to Honolulu that the Zebra Doves really outnumber the Mynah and the Sparrows.

This is actually an interesting question. Has anyone ever taken a count of the bird population? Years ago I would have said sparrows were the more common, hands down. But now, I think other birds have grown in numbers, especially doves, but I'll still go with sparrows.

You forgot one bird, though: pigeons. They're all over the place. Especially my car.

Do we have real pigeons? I'll have to pay better attention. Lace-neck doves are as large as pigeons; I always assumed... oops.

While attending UH Manoa between 1979 to 1981 I would see pigeons on campus. Would also see pigeons at Kapiolani Park during the mid-1990's while launching model rockets there.

There was almost a mid-air collision between a pigeon who happen to fly from behind a person who was launching a rocket. Poor bird just brought its wings to its body to avoid the rocket lifting off but otherwise the bird made it out okay.

Are the pigeons the only culprit of the bombs away?
