    Worth noting;
Diego's comes out winners again with their 'more for less' bulk deals. It can vary per location, but 10 soft tacos for $13,or 20 for $20, ladat.
Considering these are VERY good tacos, in both amount and taste, that's hard to beat.

Los Chapparos is my second favorite.

Both Azteca and El Borrito have made my stomach queasy the last few times so I avoid them.
i;m tryiing to figure out where this restaurant is? can you give me a clue? i know there was a new restaurant opening at corner of manoa rd. & lowery. is this the location?

Had takeout tacos and enchiladas and nachos from El Mariachi 2 in Aiea for dinner this evening. Pretty darned good, and conveniently located for me.

I haven't tried El Charro across the street in the Aiea Shopping Center upstairs near Aiea Bowl, but I'm told I should.

I think I've had tacos from Diego's on Kam Highway in Pearl City once, but obviously it wasn't so great an experience or I'd remember it better.

If I was Elvis tonite I'd fly with my posse to Pearl City and bring Diego's tacos back home to taco-less Kaaawa.

I think that MEXICO Restaurant on School street is very, very good!
Great tasting fresh food, incredible margaritas, and the wait-staff are cool.

MEXICO was the first and only stop in my aborted Mex restaurants review for personal enjoyment, and I found it nothing quite like MM's. While the spacial interior ambience was both subdued yet lively = nice, the food (basic cheese enchi plate) and lunch service (1 guy) were merely OK, and prices fairly reflected this. I wouldn't return on my own, but wouldn't fuss up if that's where the group decides to go, the cozy bar is pretty decent bang4buk.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much.
All of us ordered different items on the menu and were happy with our choices!
                Maybe you needed a margarita?

That, and someone to share it with, which is why my research lasted one place.

I see above some favorable reviews of Serg's. There's one near me, next to Waimanalo Beach Park, where I got take-out once last March. The meat was stringy and gristly. I didn't like it (but I'm no connoisseur of Mexican food).

I've mentioned it a couple of times recently over in Helen's "What's For Lunch?" thread and I put the links in there too. Los Chapparos is possibly the best Mexican restaurant on the island, or at least in the top two or three.

Diego's on King Street closed about two months ago, darn it.
And regarding Los Chapparos, the first mention was in Pomai's #2 post in this thread. Check out that post and click on the two blog links. Great reviews and great photos!

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo!

I've been to Los Chapparos. And it is very good.

Sorry to hear about Diego's-King, is the Pearl City shop still going?
I went in Los Chaparros once, but I don't eat anywhere that has that cockroach infestation smell, it kills my appetite and is a loud warning. Maybe it's just from once being an old home and no reflection on anything else, but for starters that smell has got to go.

Ron, you wrote about that in February 2010, over two years ago. And you haven't been back since?
I've been in there a bunch of times in the past couple of years and never smelled anything bad.
