I liked the Maui potato chips a lot better when you could see the salt and grease through the clear/yellow/red bags.

My fave chip;: not potato, and not in order:

Dorito's Cool Ranch
Yick Lung Nibbits
Won-ton (one ton?) in the red bag with the weightlifter dude on it
and Terra Chips-either salt & pepper or taro. Their taro chips are thicker and a little crispier.

Only today that I noticed that our bookstore was selling Wasabi Funyuns. I was kind of wondering how spicy it was?

IMO, not that spicy. There's a kick to it...so you might want to have water around just in case.

And I don't know how or why the heck I tried this, but Wasabi Funyons taste sooooo good with red wine.

Ya'll should try it sometime.

When it comes to snacks, I skew 'salty' over 'sweet,' and thus love chips.

I can't rank 'em, but I know some of my favorites, including "Maui style," or any thick, kettle style potato chips... plus most barbeque variations (including KC Masterpiece Baked Lays and, yes, Pringles-brand reconsti-chips). I briefly had a torrid affair with Cape Cod "Nantucket Spice" chips, and think this post will probably cause a relapse.

Shrimp chips, definitely, taro chips, too.

I like Funyuns but usually regret the resulting bad breath. I like Cheetos well enough, but like "puffy" over "crunchy."

Chips iz Chips but I ALWAYS give it up fo:

DORITOS!, usually the original one does it for me. I always like to try out their exotic new flavors they ocassionally come out with. If I like em I buy moa if I no like I nevah by em again.

Funyuns came out with a Wasabi version which I tawt was good. Make ya drink moa Soda to bring down da wasabi flava.

Nice to hear Nibbits is still goin and boy! Sounds like it went up a bit since I last had em and I found a Wun Tun Chip put out by TRADER JOES here and it made me think of ONE TON CHIPS. This version at TJ's I had is nuthin like da uda and better one IMO.

Lays makes KILLER smokey bacon chips. they are sold in Canada and they are SO ONO...if they sold them here they would NEVER be able to keep them in stock.

There is also a British company called Walkers and they make smokey bacon crisps as well....they are nothing short of FABULOUS!

I dont know why Lays does not sell them in the USA but they dont. they are actually made in Canada for the Canadian market.

If you love bacon... dont miss these in your travels ! YUMMMMM!

Atebara's from the Big Island (now under new ownership)

Atebara's is so oily you can see droplets of oil inside their packaging. I can only eat a small handful of them.

But no matter what kind of chip it may be I tend to prefer those chips that fold over making for a crunchy delight.

I think Frito Lay makes a "Hawaiian Kettle" chip. We LOVE the Maui Onion variety of those, in the purple bag.

hmmm..in no particular order, kettle chips are da bomb, then there's doritos cool ranch, crunchy cheetos, maui onion chips, sunchips french onion, and of course tortilla chips with salsa baby!
