One of my favorites... MONSTER IN THE CLOSET... what's not to like? People are killed in their closets and the mandate goes out to tear down all closets. The monster is ugly and Fergie is in the movie too.

Fergie of Black Eyed Peas today.

Another one I like: SSSSSSSSS! the guy from the original Battlestar Galactica turns into a snake!

Reefer Madness.
The USA Up all Night movies were bad. But, they were watchable while smoking reefers. And the tv host was hot.

There's a remake this year of I Spit on Your Grave. I didn't see the original or plan to see either of this movie.

You have a thing for Gilbert Gottfried, huh?

I LOVE bad movies, and USA Up All Night was an important part of my early college years. The Troma films, especially the first Toxic Avenger and Class of Nuke 'Em High are particular faves, but I also like Hell Comes to Frogtown, They Live, Zapped!, Paradise, and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. "Puuuubertyyyyy...puberty love...."

I really like some bad films that didn't quite fit the Up All Night mold: North Shore, Elektra, and Battlefield Earth, a movie that gets an unfair rap. It doesn't suck.

And finally, two pretty-good movies that try to disguise themselves as bad: The Barbarians and Tremors. Both much better than they should have been.

There was another host Rhonda Shear who looked like a 1980's porn star with the high hair and cleavage. You can still see that hairstyle on Joisey Housewives. Gilbert Gottfried is hot, but his voice is a deal breaker.
I checked some YouTube clips of Up All Night. There was one for Cannibal Women starring a young Bill Maher and Shannon Tweed. Shannon Tweed was in a lot of bad movies on HBO where she showed her assets.

Ah yeah. Rhonda Shear. I swear, she and Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) must have had some kind of rivalry going at the time, where each of them tried to outdo the other in wearing the most revealing outfit that the censors would allow.

USA Up All Night was frustrating to watch, with the movies all chopped and edited in order to make it suitable for basic cable viewing. It would have been a lot more enjoyable to watch those movies in their full glory on a network like HBO or Showtime. But then again, on those channels, there would have been no commercial interuptions and hence, no need for Gilbert and Rhonda's comic bits and antics that were shown before and after the commercial breaks.

There are movies by David Lynch such as Dune and Mullholland Drive that are hard to understand. But, you watch those movies because they're so bizarre.

another bizarre David Lynch film is "Blue Velvet". C'mon - finding a stray ear in a field? by chance? but I loved watching it!

And Dennis Hopper's over the top acting with an oxygen mask.

I liked "Dune" and recently found it in the $5 DVD bin at WalMart. Saw it when the movie first came out in 1984 at the Kapiolani Theater. The movie was like this huge condensation of the sprawling Frank Herbert books which I had read a few years before.

I don't think Mulholland Drive counts as a bad movie by any measure. It's one of the most interesting, most auteur-ish movies I've seen in the past ten years. It's a film that tells its story in a different language, it seems, and thus it rewards repeat viewings. I won't pretend to understand everything about it, but that's one of the reasons I like it. It is an extremely well-crafted, well-thought-out film, the kind that I'm glad I don't have to see every week, but also the kind that I'm glad I can see once in a while.

Mulholland Drive had a then unknown actress Naomi Watts as the lead. You could tell she has that it factor.
I remember the tv series Twin Peaks where one of characters could tie a cherry stem with her tongue. Did that symbolize anything?

AHHH, Shannon Tweed. Very nice "assets." Former Playboy Playmate-of-the-Year. She hung out with James Caan ("Sonny Corleone" on THE GODFATHER). It does seem that she was in a number of "B" movies ..............

Stopped to watch "Killer Clowns From Outer Space" the other night on one of the upper channels. It was pretty bad but entertaining. Actually wished I saw it from the beginning. haha

Sharknado mania!
Tara Reid is in the movie. There's hope for Lindsay Lohan or Amanda Bynes.
