  • iPod Trend Brings World-wide Hearing Loss

    Source
Increasingly, Novak says he's seeing too many young people with ''older ears on younger bodies" -- a trend that's been building since the portable Walkman made its debut a few decades back.

Maybe that's why I'm using my phone as my MP3 player (and using an earpiece makes it easier to listen to music during class)
How'd I get so white and nerdy?

Let's see. It's a problem observed since the advent of the Sony Walkman. The story is clear that they're talking about all portable music players, or specifically, the use of headphones. Nonetheless, adding "iPod" to the headline, of course, makes the story that much more current and sexy.

That problem goes even farther back to us in the radio biz where wearing headphones was part of the job requirement. I'm practically deaf after 23-years in the biz.
