At the Flicker Meet-up on Sunday, I ventured out and took three pics of DIAMOND HEAD!

Nice shots of the Kailua Parade, Mel/Rabbett. That clown dude looks kinda' scary though. lol

Last night I watched the 4th of July fireworks display at Maunalua Bay Beach Park in Hawaii Kai. Here's some shots from that event...

        In front of Roy's...

The tents were set up on the grassy area just left of the main entrance...

        More on next post...

Entertainment (just before the fireworks) was provided by Henry Kapono...

Doing MC duty was KINE 105's Billy V., and KGMB anchor' Kim Gennaula and Guy Hagi...

            Time to launch...

The barge that staged the pyrotechnics was quite close to shore, near the Henry J. Kaiser Estate on the shore of Portlock...

The fireworks display lasted a good 20 minutes and was great. The grand finale went OFF. I hope they do it again next year!

Pomai, I did not go to the Kailua parade which means I did not take any photos there. Rabb is an old friend and he always gets a comprehensive shoot of the Kailua 4th of July parade every year since it just travels right next to his house.

On the other hand, I like your photos taken at yesterday's 4th of July thing over in Hawaii Kai.

I shot the fireworks at Ala Moana Center last night from a bad location (had to avoid the glaring parking lot light poles) and yielded only a few good shots. Here is one of them:

Mel, nice! How long did the Ala Moana display last?

Lasted about 15 to 18 minutes. I heard the same fireworks company handled Ala Moana and Hawaii Kai.

Whoever that company is, did a fantastic job on the Hawaii Kai display. I'd hire them again.

Some shots at Kuliou'ou beach park at dusk before "the show"...

I'd never seen the one in Kailua before until this year.
These guys behind us weren't too excited...

But I enjoyed the mellow atmosphere as we waited on the beach:

It seemed they were having technical difficulties in Kailua. There were huge pauses in between episodes of fireworks. And I don't recall seeing a grand finale either. Here's one less-than-lovely shot anyway, taken from my farther away vantage point:
