Went to the Sky Garden Restaurant at the Imiloa here in Hilo tonight. Wasn't prepared for Chinese but that's the menu there. After at 7:30pm we went to the planetarium where they were showing videos from Pink Floyd's The Wall in a full-dome experience. Man that was better than drugs!
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.

There are days when dinner is cold ravioli from a can. But I don't post about those.

Tonight's dinner is one to write home about...

So last winter I made this ham from a pork shoulder (actually I made four, all a bit different), and it's been hanging up to dry since. Yesterday I scrubbed and soaked it and today it'll be simmered with carrots, onions, leeks, cloves, cel...ery, etc., and then tomorrow it'll be skinned and smeared with mustard and honey glaze and baked. By monday it'll be soup made with the broth and the leftovers along with some beans and cabbage thrown in.

          The above sounds fabulous,

If you hear somebody knocking on yer door.
If you see somebody crawling out across yer floor
          Susie it'l be me !

If you see somebody climbing up a telegraph pole ,
If you find a new lump in yer sugar bowl.

It'l be me..... save some soup for me.

          For tomorrow

          Roast duck in Orange Sauce

Plunge the duck into my largest pan/turin of boiling salted water for about three mins. Then wrap it in foil and leave it in the oven overnight.
I peel the oranges today, segment them and pop them in the fridge for tomorrow. Once they are mashed, they will have a liberal lelping of thick Greek yogurt to be stired, but not boiled, to be added to the duck.
Roast spuds, I will do in the mornig (I like to blanche them in boiling water before I put them in with the duck fat to roast ~ I do the same with the parsnips.)
Carrots, Garden peas,,,,, and that's it folks.

Reminded ! I bought a box of chock ices for afters. Our lot love them

Grilled mahi mahi and portobello mushroom slices
Roasted baby bell peppers and sweet potato fries (but no frying!)
It was all yum and I made enough for tomorrow!

Oh, and a glass of wine...

Tonight will be trout stuffed with breadcrumbs, walnuts, bacon, onions. Or maybe a seafood stuffing. Worcestershire, butter and lemon sauce. Veggie salad.

Tomorrow night will be tonkatsu, rice, salad.
