I'm somewhat of an 80s geek when it comes to music and movies. Name the best movie(s), in your opinion, of that decade and tell why you chose em.

Re: Favorite 80s Movie(s)
Karate Kid
Back to the Future
Indiana Jones
I can't think of specific reasons, but I found these films very entertaining and define my view of the 80's.
I also like cult classics like Pee Wee's Big Adventure and The Wizard, but mainly because they "take me back".

Re: Favorite 80s Movie(s)
Some of my favorite scifi movies of all time came out in the 1980s....
1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
2. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
3. Star Wars VI: The Return of the Jedi (1983)
- three GREAT movies that define the genre of that decade for me.
Not too far behind...
4. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) - the best of the Star Trek movies.
5. E.T. (1982) - one of the most charming scifi movies ever.
6. Aliens (1986) - sequel to 1979's original Ridley Scott movie; good action.
7. Blade Runner (1982) - a dark, moody and grim future and what we are probably moving to....
8. Starman (1984) - one of the better scifi movies with a romantic twist to it.
9. Splash (1984) - a funny comedy about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid. I guess this can be scifi since there is a lunatic scientist involved and mermaids are purely legend or speculative at best.
10. Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade (1989) - Sean Connery was a definite plus in this outing.
Other movies...
Romancing the Stone (1984)
Footloose (1984)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
Top Gun (1986)I'm still here. Are you?

Re: Favorite 80s Movie(s)
All the obvious ones already mentioned, but I wanted to add my personal favorite, The Lost Boys. Greatest vampire movie EVER."Luke, help me take this mask off. Just for once, let me look at you with my own eyes. No, it turns the other way, Luke. To the left. No, to your left. Push down and twist. Line up the little arrows. Never mind, I'll do it."

Re: Favorite 80s Movie(s)
A lot of the movies mentioned already I love.
Also...
The Goonies (CLASSIC!) Great cast, I love Data, 00negative, lol!
Clue (I love Tim Curry!!!)
When I play the game I'm always Ms. Scarlet, in the movie Mrs. White owned it. Madeline Kahn was hilarious! I love all of her lines.
One of my favorite exchanges...
Colonel Mustard: How many husbands have you had?
Mrs. White: Mine or other women's?
Colonel Mustard: Yours.
Mrs. White: Five.
Colonel Mustard: Five?
Mrs. White: Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like Kleenex, soft, strong and disposable.
Colonel Mustard: You lure men to their deaths like a spider with flies.
Mrs. White: Flies are where men are most vulnerable.
Colonel Mustard: Right!
Quite obviously from my actions on another thread I'm also very fond of The Princess Bride.I'm disgusted and repulsed, and I can't look away.
