  • Problems catching radio signals

I have no idea on this since I don't use a radio on TheBus.

The bus motor's magneto's (or sumtin ladat) interfere with reception, so you have to put your radio next to the window at just the right spot/angle and keep repositioning it as the bus navigates. Frustrating, I know, that's another reason I was glad to end long country commutes.

I'm only in town. Are the AM radio stations signals bad out at the country areas even on the older buses? I have no problem hearing the AM stations on the older buses when riding in the Honolulu area.

So are you hearing static or some other kind of noise? By any chance is the inside of a hybrid bus has more noise than the older buses?

Yes, reception starts crapping out towards Wahiawa, and don't sit in the rear near the engine.
I havn't dealt with it recently, but I'd imagine even the newest buses are the same.

It's more of a loud buzzing sound from one end of the dial to the other end. So, It's impossible to land on any station.

I also can't hear AM stations in stores with an Electronic Dept. such as Don Quijote or Walmart. I can hear the stations in supermarkets.

So when is the last time you changed the batteries?

As George Nitta would say...you need to use Delco Batteries!

Alas, you can't totally escape from AM signal interference, whether you're in a moving vehicle or walking around inside a building.

Get Live365 mobile for your iPhone or Blackberry phone so you can tune into my Sock Hop Oldies station for interference-free listening on the go.

There's no sports talk radio on FM.
