Anyone know what kind of bait to use to catch Halalu with a bamboo pole?

Aku belly, plastic shrimp, plastic strips. This is the kind you buy in the fishing supply section. Comes in small sheets and you can cut to suit your needs. The shrimp is the same. Comes in a bag of 10 or so. Aku belly may be harder to come by and more expensive.
Where's the little buggers running now?
Just had some the other night. Salt, pepper and deep fried to crispy. Family wolfed that down in no time. Gotta go find more.

If it's still runing that's a pretty long run because I was there last Saturday and there were about 50 people lining the shoreline. S don't forget that Waimea drops off so it's not like you can wade into the water like most beaches. Be sure to get there early because I'm sure the parking lot will fill up early. Good luck anyway.

Walked the Memory Walk for Alzheimers with my daughters dis morning. Saw these folks with their fishing poles. Asked one of dem wat dey was catching. He said "HAHALU!"
