Saturday morning 6/16 we'll take Kolohe to Keehi South Lagoon to scrub the vegetation off the bottom again. Also getting her 100% provisioned and sail ready.

Then Sunday morning 6/17 we'll start a sail around O'ahu. Should take 3 days or less to sail a non-stop circumnavigation. What an adventure!

Hey Likanui... is there a preferred direction for this?
I was thinking of heading West when we leave Keehi Lagoon, around Kaena Point way. Or is it a better way to head past Diamond Head first?
We switched up the sail plan due to weather and that the 3rd crew member bailed. Because of the high wind and seas we sailed to Waianae boat harbor instead of continuing on around. Had a triple reefed main and a jib up or just jib. Kolohe handled it fine! So soon, we'll sail back to Keehi.

Didn't take much photos. Hazy conditions and just plain busy. Haha!

      Re: Sailin' Stories!

Thanks for the report. I was a bit worried, due to that sudden weather change. (Instead of very light southeasterlies we had northeast tradewinds of 15-30 with gusts to 50! What should've been calm winds and seas suddenly went into full gale warnings for all Hawaiian waters, as the High Pressure System moved in much faster than expected.)
I imagine you're going to reschedule the trip for sometime in the near future.

      .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

        Thanks really man!
This was heavy weather sailing for sure. Ended up seriously blowing. We sailed out of Keehi with a very slight westward curve till about 8 miles out, then we played along the Waianae coast. Definitely not interested in heading around the corner... at that time.

That's pretty cool! Shootin' the breeze with any sea dog can be interesting on steroids, but these guys have whole new insights with their newfound notoriety fron the show. I'd be embarrassed to say to any of them that I did their work... in balmy Hawaiian waters!

                    That is sooo cool Leashlaws!

Kolohe sailing from Waianae to Keehi
Cast off at 8am 7/30, tied on at 6am 7/31/2012.
Sweet light winds and calm seas till we rounded Barber's Point(Kalaeloa), then built to 8-11 foot swells and 25 to 30 knot winds. Great day and sunset, lovely moon, choice views of Waikiki as we sailed in, then into Keehi Lagoon.

                    I lost a merit badge because I wasn't prepared! My camera's batteries died and I didn't have more with me. Rats-n-frats-n #@*%.

                    A beautiful, wonderful time!

                      Re: Sailin' Stories!

Had a terrific short sail to Keehi South Lagoon, anchoring out in the middle.
Then Shay, Tyler and I swam to Mokauea Island(http://kainani.hpu.edu/cfung/mokouea-moreInfo.htm). Our first time there and really enjoyed ourselves.
Don and Sulu stayed onboard enjoying the peace and fresh air.
Then swam back to Kolohe and sailed back to Don's slip at Keehi Boat Harbor.

                      Got some great photos...

And a slideshow of today! http://www.flickr.com/photos/6989123...62383684/show/
