Snow melted but the slush froze overnight and the road conditions are treacherous. I got some basic groceries from Somerfield Supermarket for two elderley ladies who live near me. Can't take a chance of them slipping on the pavements.
I asked them if there was anything I could do for them for lunch but all they wanted was fish, chips and mushy peas from the chip shop.
Served with bread, butter and cups of tea.

Sliced chickenbreasts and onions, stirfried first til almost done, and then doused with a sauce made from a tablespoon of veal stockpowder, a big handful of dehydrated mushrooms, crumbled, a spoonful of crumbled dehydrated celery, chives, parsley, and garlic, and a pinch of thyme, and a can of evaporated milk...all simmered until thick and lovely. Served on a bed of noodles with steamed carrots (simmer til almost tender, drain, add butter, salt, pepper, and brown sugar, and simmer some more) on the side.

                Pyrenees chocolate for dessert.

Ok, tell the truth. Has your doctor threatened you with dire consequences if you didn't change your diet?

Into the crockpot went...potatoes, lentils, onion, garlic, leeks, carrots, bayleaves, thyme, salt and pepper, chicken stock cubes, red wine vinegar, and water.

We had it 'whole' for dinner last night, and puréed, with the addition of fried hotdog slices in it, for lunch. It might have been good with spaetzle added.

                            Yoghurt cake for dessert.

Mix one pot of yoghurt, one of oil, two of sugar, three of flour, a pinch of salt, a tablespoon of baking powder, and two eggs. Mix and bake as usual.
Susie, Lentil Soup is my all-time favorite food. I love to make it weekly on the cool winter days. I make it just like mom's, a German family recipe handed down. I never thought to use potatoes in it. Is this your own recipe or a French style? I'm not fond of versions that use tomatoes in it. Yours sounds yummy.... I'll try it. Thanks!
