  • The Crab Pot

So I just got back from visiting my brother in LA and he takes me to this place called the Crab Pot in Long Beach. LA was an experience for me having not been there since 1982. The Crab Pot was an experience in itself. If anyone else here has been to this eatery, you'll know what I mean when I say I was completely STUNNED...when our order of SIX Alaskan's was literally dumped directly onto our table. What is an Alaskan? King Crab, Dungeness Crab, Snow Crab, Shrimp, Steamed Clam, Pacific Mussels, Andouille Sausage, Corn on the Cob and Red Potatoes...All dumped in one huge (very massive) pile onto our round table of six. Attached is a picture the waitress took of us after devouring for an hour. I'm on the left. Needless to say, I was totally stuffed! Two days later we went to Todai in the Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia for dinner. I think I had to pay extra baggage charges on the way back to Hilo after gaining a few pounds!

You know what they say about crabpots?

Put crabs in a pot and don't worry about escapees: Any crab that starts to climb out will bepulled back by the crahbs below - so no crab escapes.

    Sound familiar? It should....

It's a model for human interactions.

    oK?

I've heard it called the Crab Mentality or Bucket Mentality. The losers will pull those who aspire down to level the playing field. Hence I truly don't believe those who are successful in life should be penalized for achieving more in life.

        Right on!

Success is it's own reward, and the spoils of success are gravy.

at $34.99 per person and a two order minimum this is defintely a once in a while kinda meal. I paid for the entire dinner. With gratuity it came out to just under $350.00 for six of us including drinks.

Never been to the one in LA. But everytime I go to Seattle I always make a trip to the waterfront to eat at their Crab Pot! Alaskan is the way to go!

Gravy on crab? I dunno 'bout that...

But I loved the crab mentality/human interaction analogy - never heard that one before. Guess it just tells you not to waste time hanging out with crabs! (I prefer HT myself.)
