  • KHNR moving

Filed at the FCC is an application to move 870 to Honolulu and change frequency and power to 880 with 10kw using the tower site that currently houses the transmitters for 690 and 1210..Could a format change be in the works once the move is complete?

    Re: KHNR moving

A format change that I would suggest is that the news/talk format be on KHNR AM and that the FM (97.5) switch to a music format. A good format for 97.5 would be smooth jazz.

A good format for KHNR-FM would be ROCK. There needs to be more than just KUCD in this town.

        isn't KPOI enough for you?
Do they not rock you enough?...

I'm not saying they are the best...

        Just wondering...

That would be a more proper move. Isn't the GM there the former GM for KPOI? I can't remember his name.

                Re: KHNR moving

You have to remember who is controlling KHNR, Salem Broadcasting, a religious radio group. A rock format will not fly under their watch.

As for craigwatanabe Quote: Isn't the GM there the former GM for KPOI? I can't remember his name.

That was T.J. Malievsky and he was either fired or left Salem a couple of months ago.

As for Palolo Joe (the "big kahuna," to put it bluntly, sucks.)

Look who is programing the music. A bean head from Boston. East coast attitude with no local input and only cares about himself and his show. He takes no local input and history of the station. KPOI has so much rich history and it's all going to waste. There is no hope for KPOI as long as he is there.

Back to KHNR's new format. Do not expect a brilliant decision or a ratings winner. The only format in the top ten for Salem is KGMZ. And it was T.J. who talked Salem into buying the oldies format station to come over.

Good luck Salem, make us proud with your decision.

                  Re: KHNR moving

So T.J. got the axe huh? Yeah with Salem running the show it'd be hard pressed to see KHNR becoming a rock and roll station...maybe Christian rock
