  • Da Rink - Roller skates on Oahu

There were two Roller skate places on Oahu during the early 1980s

One was on King Street, near Alapai Street by the old bus yard. Was that one "Da Rink?"

And there was another one in the Chinese Culture Plaza? What's the name of it?

There was one where the Sears distrubution center is in Pearl City, and one in Kaneohe where the Kaneohe Self Storage is currently located. One was called "All American Skate". I forget what the other was called. I was a rollerskating queen in my day.

Yes. Skateland! thanks Danny. All American Skate was the Kaneohe rink.

You may be right. I'm trying to think of the one on King Street (near Alapai). We went there as a school fieldtrip in the 6th grade. Then it closed. Da Rink opened, and we went there for a little while after.

                      That's right.

Da Rink is long gone. But if you where to look, there is a glass window above a door facing Maunakea St. that still has a Da Rink logo on it. The doorway looks shuttered up and hardly used by anyone. So maybe that it is why it is still there.

I remember that one and also the one on Dillingham before King St. where the service station and the pet doctor stay, this too was in the 50's.

There was one at Schofield back in the early seventies. I went there on my first date with Kenny Sussel.
