Sorry you have to go thru this, Susie, and I hope life gets back to normal soon. But, I gotta say...what an absolutely charming area.

You are absolutely correct. Where Susie lives is beautiful and for some years I didn't live far from her.
Susie has my phone numbers and knows that I can reach her in about an hour or so.
Yet what help would an independant lady like Susie want from me ? Floods or not.
Can I explain ? The snow on the Pyrenees can cause serious flooding around Susies region.

I have asked her to come and stay with me in England for a while, until these disasters pass. She has so far turned me down Either she doesn't like the idea of my cooking, or she thinks I'm an ugly bas**rd.

        I must've missed that pm.

Watch out, Barry...I might just take you up on that offer. I could do the cooking, and you could teach me to appreciate ugly bas**rds.

And today is very sunny, somewhat warm after a morning's light frost...and the waters are down...

              to this...

And back to this in less than two days...

Scrolling through those pictures on response #21 I sort of noticed that the spot of where those photos are taken off changes. It sorts of goes like this:

                bottom
                top
                middle

Look at the hedges on the left and the post on the right to see their positions. So what happen to the sign that said "Rue" in the middle photo. Was the sign always there or did it get washed away by the flood?

Re: Cat dying, roof leaking, flood approaching.

The first picture was taken at two pm, just as the flooding began to get bad.

The second one was taken two hours later, when it began to get bad, and the Townhall was closing roads and putting up signs and getting people to move their cars away from danger...I guess the sign must've been placed just after the first picture was taken.

The last one was taken this afternoon. I don't know if the sign washed away or was recuperated...but the flooding didn't get too much higher after about four in the afternoon. Beyond the picture, the road turns to the left, which is now slimy with mud.

In the middle picture, the blue bench is all the way under water.

I see it, Susie...wow. (the lined up tree trunks helped.) And I love your area; looks a lot like rural Germany when I spent a little time there. (Don't tell your neighbors!)
