    Re: What's Better Nowadays?

Indeed, bigger sized screens for the display but not a heavy box to hold all of the electronics or the old style display tube.

I also had dental appointment this morning (8/12/19), I was thinking about this thread while they taking X-rays. In the old days (like the 90's) that they had to process the films. I assume now an x-ray sensitive sensor is placed in my mouth that is connected via a USB cable to a laptop to store the x-ray image of my teeth. This has been around for quite sometime like more than 5 to 8 years.

However what was new today was them taking a mold of my teeth, it used to be chalky and left a residue in my mouth, now there was no chalky residue and it had mild minty flavor to it.

For TV we have more options than before.

        1. Free digital over the air channels with antenna if you live close to a transmitter.

        2. The ability to dump cable and satellite TV and choose a streaming option like Netflix or Hulu.

        3. Free video streaming: Pluto TV, Roku Channel, TubiTV, free You Tube and many more.
        I'm still here. Are you?

youtube is old news but it and dailymotion.com or ro.ku(?) for things yt won't allow are a godsend, but there's still plenty of stuff unavailable for free viewing. the surprises to be found are astounding and the apps to save them in case they get deleted are invaluable. there's 0 on free TV I've bothered with for years, it all stinks, and movies of the last few decades suck too, but all that darn Liberal Socialist free stuff keeps me entertained and off the streets to the good fortune of many lol

TheBus: In the 1980's only some of the buses had air conditioning, it must have been during the 1990's that all of the buses have air conditioning.

Testor's Plastic Cement: In the old days they sold it in red squeeze tubes. A few months ago I encountered another version in blue squeeze tube and it was labeled as Non-toxic Plastic Cement. At that time I purchased one red tube and one blue tube but I never had a chance to use them. Last week one of the students needed some plastic cement to build a model rocket with plastic fins, I said I will bring the plastic cement from home. So this week I bring both tubes in and explained to another student that I have no experience in using the Non-toxic version. Then I got asked why would I use the toxic version over the Non-toxic one? My reply was the Non-toxic version was not available in the 1970's.
