  • Re: What's for lunch - Chapter 8

Beef & pork bowl from Mom's Teriyaki in Belltown (Seattle) - not that great...think I'll stick with their spicy chicken in the future. Sprite to drink.
Dessert: a "Double-O" from Three Girls Bakery in the Pike Place Market - it's a Reese's peanut-butter cup baked into the middle of a peanut-butter cookie.

Hadn't been to that bastion of mainland-style comfort food for quite some time, but stopped in yesterday at Like Like Drive Inn and had one of the day's specials, that "Alfredo" combination of chunks of beef, egg noodles and thick rich gravy. More than sufficient on its own, didn't really need the two scoops of mashed potatoes and side dish of corn.

Spent the rest of the afternoon feeling stuffed.

I got so busy working I didn't take time to make lunch for myself!
(See Farrell's update in today's Star-Bulletin) ... and of course I was working on my column for the Sunday S-B, too.

Steak sandwich, sauteed onions/mushrooms, small green salad, iced tea at Assagio's. Best of all, I was treated by a friend.

Boneless chicken (I suspect it was lemon chicken), brown rice, mixed veggies, mac salad from the (recently opened) HCC Cafeteria and a bottle of Diet Pepsi (Mountain Dew was sold out) from the vending machine.

Phở at Skippy's on Queen Emma... next door to Da Kine Bail Bonds. My friend is a regular, so we chatted a bit with the owner, Lannie Nguyen. She was making spring rolls as we talked. Good food. The place got a nice write up in the Star-Bulletin.
