Dancing With The Stars... not for me, but my Mom and friend love that show. It would make a great gift.

Having the complete series of Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on DVD would be the ultimate holy grail for a 1970s music lover. A few years ago, VH-1 replayed a handful of episodes, and the sound/picture quality look well preserved.

Speaking of music shows from that same era, DVD compilations of Midnight Special, The Old Grey Whistle Test (UK), and Musikladen (Germany) have already been released, but the clips are all chopped up and scattered on many discs. It would be nice to have complete episodes of these series, wherever copyright clearance would allow.

I have tons of complete Midnight Specials and Don Kirshner's RC shows on 3/4inch, beta, etc. in addition to screeners I've had to view for pre-production
          purpose.

In my opinion, those were the best music shows of the era, along with American Bandstand and ABC's In Concert.

            Laugh in(1979)
There is a break out star in the cast who you might heard of later in his career.

Robin Williams, I got this one on beta. The original LAUGH IN, much better!

Another famously failed revivial was Redd Foxx's Sanford. (This is not to be confused with the absolutely dreadful Sanford Arms.) Three years after the original Sanford & Son went off the air, Foxx reprised his role as the cantankerous junkyard owner..... but this time, without Lamont (Demond Wilson). Taking Lamont's place as Fred Sanford's sidekick was a fat tub redneck named Cal (Dennis Burkley). Meh! It just wasn't the same. The show lasted only a year. It was only then that people came to apprieciate Wilson's talent as a straight man for Foxx's jokes and antics. The chemistry between Foxx and Burkley just wasn't there. But despite this, there were still some hilarious moments between Fred and some of the characters carried over from the original series, like Aunt Esther, Rollo, and Grady.

Serious thought should be given to releasing Sanford on DVD. Unlike the first series, Sanford has never been widely syndicated and so its been many years since people have seen these episodes. I think that a fair number of S&S fans will snap this up on DVD, just as they did in big numbers for the original show.

Redd Foxx had a variety show. There was a comic on the show who kept on saying that you doesn't have to call him Johnson.

Does anyone here remember Early Edition? I used to watch it in the 90s, and now they're airing the reruns on something called "FAMNET". Too bad it only lasted 4 seasons, I thought it was a great show. I'm glad Kyle Chandler was able to find more work via Friday Night Lights.

They have the first 2 seasons on DVD already, hopefully they'll release 3 and 4.

Yes. He did beer ads with that routine too. Years ago he appeared in the old Hilton Dome with Don Ho and also The Aliiis.

The only time I remeber it being reran was on BET during the 90s and parts of this decade too off and on. i have some of the shows on beta when it was on NBC. Foxx's Sanford character was one of my favorites, Aunt Esther too!!

Is it like watching Hawaii Five-O when you look for how much the city's backdrop has changed since the series was filmed? 99% of people in Hawaii know Vegas like the back of their hand.

I don't know the Vegas of the 50s-60s-70s-80s like I know the Vegas of the 90s and today, partly do to my age. I do remember when you could drive down Fremont Street which Urich did during the opning credits and how the strip seemed to be more spread out and the airport seemed further away from the casinos then.

I was a big fan of Urich, I also liked him in SWAT and SPENSER FOR HIRE. After he died I even wrote his widow to tell her how big a fan I was of him and how many of us will miss him and his work. Reviving his series on DVD, his work lives on and maybe new fans will see the series for the first time.

I remember meeting Bart Braverman when I was kid, got his autograph and having a huge crush on Phyllis Davis, you had Tony Curtis and Greg Morris from MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, great cast!!

He had a self-deprecating sense of humor while playing an action hero. The 80's had those 'tache tv action heroes with Tom Selleck being the biggest star. Other male action stars were called a poor man's Burt Reynolds.
