    Re: Food safety alerts

Yes there should be more news around the re-opening and inspection clearing. But good news doesn't usually make "good" news I guess.

The LA Times has a section devoted to this every week. Also there they have to post the grades they get on their window.

Warabeya USA is recalling bentos they made for 7-11 that has been exposed to listeria.

        Hawaii News Now

The recall includes meals called the Big Bento, Breakfast Scramble Bowl, and the Little Smokies Snack Pack, sold exclusively at Hawaii's 64 7-Eleven stores.

Warabeya made the bentos on June 28 with a best-eaten-by date of June 30.
Making an announcement of the contaminated product was necessary, of course. But why did Warabeya call it a recall? The "best-eaten-by" date was back on June 30th. That makes it a bit too late for any customer to return one of those contaminated bentos, don't ya think?

Heck, how many people who buy those 7-11 bentos even hang onto their receipts for more than a week?

If you ask me, Warabeya should not get off the hook so easily for this. They should be fined by the state and be liable for any medical costs associated with their contaminated bentos.

I ate one of those big bento on July 2nd. I think the best eaten by date is on the day it's sold. It might be awhile before I eat a 7-11 bento again.
