Re: It's a gas... price increase, that is.

Maybe it's the tin-foil-hatter in me, but I just don't buy the NIMBY argument about the refineries. Obviously with oil less than $70 a barrel, it's not the supply limit that's causing troubles right...

Lucky you live Hawai`i? :)

Re: Health Savings Account

No problem, and (mandatory CYA post :)) I'm not a real tax professional or CPA, I just play one around tax time :D, so if you know one you might do well to ask them about all this stuff too. There...

Re: Health Savings Account

We had just one option, which was Blue Cross Blue Shield. We got to choose between a PPO and an HSA, the former being about $50 a month more in premiums, and the latter with zero pay-out until the...

Re: It's a gas... price increase, that is.

The only real surprise to me is that it took this long. What with all the hurricanes tearing up refineries, more gas guzzlers on the roads than ever, and many analysts figuring we've now passed the...

Re: Health Savings Account

I do, mainly 'cause that's what my work was offering for health insurance. :D By putting those two together I came out about $100/month ahead in premiums, which can go into the account. It's nice...

Re: Doctor Who on SciFi

Torchwood comes and goes for me. Some of the episodes I thought were just absolutely awesome, others a little mediocre. I kind of liked the darker Captain Jack myself. Looking forward to seeing what...

Re: If Music is the Key of Life than RAP music...

Do you happen to remember their name? I've really gotta hear this :)

After hearing the Jump5 remix of "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" I've been lamenting the lack of "modern" music with Hawaiian...

Re: Doctor Who on SciFi

I've heard all sorts of stories about why Eccleston left, he didn't want to get pidgeonholed, he had some other job he wanted to do more, he didn't want to leave, ... still not sure what happened...

Re: Doctor Who on SciFi

Yes!! Liking the new season quite a bit. I'm glad they've toned down the American-style overly dramatic puke-cam antics, and brought back a bit of the old-school camp. That whole Shakespeare episode...

Re: If Music is the Key of Life than RAP music...

May I recommend Country Rap Tune by Tow Down? ;) It's pretty hilarious... heard it on the radio randomly one day during a road trip and I actually had to call the station and ask them what it was.

Re: If Music is the Key of Life than RAP music...

Thank you! Not all "rap" is hateful / violence encouraging / glorifying the slums / etc. Not all of it is even in English. :) In fact some of the best I've heard, musically speaking, is in Japanese....

Re: Merrie Monarch 2007

Been watching from here. The video stream is awesome, but I bet it's twice as good in person. The Ho`omalu performance was fantastic. It's been one great performance after another, though with the...

Re: Enjoy some pictures of Hawaii

That's what drives me nuts about most modern digitals. I grew up with a very old 35mm SLR, where you could just turn a dial or push a button and get most of the common settings adjusted quite easily,...

Re: pork over the Pali

Cool to watch though :)

Anyway, I thought the big one was driving over the Saddle Road on the big island with pork, due to the, ah, disagreements :) between Pele and Kamapua`a...?

Re: What do you believe?

All true, though it's possible to become religious and dogmatic again when someone starts making statements like "there is no God, there is no creator", a non-provable, non-falsifyable claim. It is...

Ah ha, they got back to me! I'll go ahead and post the answer here in case anyone else ever wants to know.

So I guess the answer is "yes". Companies are supposed to withhold for people living...

Re: What do you believe?

Atheism as a religion goes like this: when given a proposition like Deism (God may or may not exist, but he created the world as it is, evolution, big bang, and all) they will deny the possibility of...

Thanks for the response!

That does make sense, though for example in my case they've never done it until I lived in Oregon. Maybe they were just flying under the radar. ;) I lived in Arizona for a...

Question State income tax on out of state income

My apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.. apparently "tax" is too short of a search term ;)

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to handle a Hawai`i state income tax return for a...

Oooo... I'll definitely be checking that out. Is he doing the posters for Merrie Monarch, or just as a thing on his own?
