Re: Annoying Storm Warnings

Interesting. Thinking back on it, I remember changing from the HD channel to non-HD versions (7 and 87 on Oceanic) and there was no sound for any of the KGMB feeds. BUT...I can't remember whether I...

Re: Annoying Storm Warnings

I have no objections to the emergency alerts, or how often they're broadcast. I don't object to their interrupting the program I'm watching. I don't question their value or appropriateness. My only...

Re: Annoying Storm Warnings

The same thing happened again tonight during the beginning of The Mentalist. The sound remained squelched for several minutes after the warning message was pau. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to...

Re: Hawaii Five-O 2.0 - Take Two!

I think I read in the 'tiser that they'd be using a version of the original theme.

Re: KGMB - KHNL - KFVE "shared services agreement"

Stacey will be missed, but I can't fault her priorities. Family should come first. As for Hawaii New Snow, this could be a blessing in disguise. I don't think the 3 anchor format works that well. The...

Re: KGMB - KHNL - KFVE "shared services agreement"

That clip is priceless! When Vance and Michael get each other going, it's hilarious. They've been doing that to each other for something like 20 years now! Thanks for posting the link. :)

Re: KGMB - KHNL - KFVE "shared services agreement"

I haven't seen Blangiardi do one yet either. But Fink is still doing them over on K5. Saw one about a week ago. I don't mind editorials at all if they're done well. Back when I lived in D.C., the...

Re: KGMB - KHNL - KFVE "shared services agreement"

Here's my understanding of the situation (which could be completely wrong!):

Currently, MCG owns KGMB. Raycom owns KHNL/KFVE. After the shakeout, MCG will own KFVE, and Raycom will own KHNL/KGMB....

Re: "Lost" - Season 5: Episode & Storyline Discussion

I loved Ben's expression when he regained consciousness and saw Locke sitting there in front of him, very much alive!

Re: Oceanic's HDTV Channel Question

Helen,

To receive the HD channels "in the clear" as mentioned, you do have to use the TV's built-in digital tuner. If you're going through a cable box, the only way you can receive any of the HD...

Re: KGMB + Tonya Joaquin

You could well be right, sin. My comment was more a fan cheering his favorite team than a serious prediction. :)

Re: Digital TV Over The Air

I agree that many people won't be able to tell, particularly those with smaller screens/longer viewing distances. But there are some of us who can tell. I have a 70" screen and my seating is 8-10 ft....

Re: "Lost" - Season 5: Episode & Storyline Discussion

The island's time/space shifting apparently is having repercussions elsewhere in the world as well. I noticed that "Windward Auto Spa" was transplanted to Los Angeles! ;)

The show used to go to...

Re: Kim Gennaula says Aloha to KGMB and Hello to Kapiolani

Um, not quite. KGMB's 10:00 news always runs to 10:35. Tonight's newscast, tributes and all, ended at exactly the same time it always does. Despite Keahi's comment when Liz ended her sports/tribute...

Re: "Lost" - Season 4: Episode & Storyline Discussion

Will a 70" Sony do? (KDS-R70XBR2). Just wish KITV gave us the 5.1 surround feed too. Oh well, my AVR does a decent job of faking it most of the time.

Got Oceanic's DVR.

It's usually...

Re: Hawaii TV News Anchors and Reporters - Book 3

I'll second that. His latest post was simply over the top. And to think, I chose to live in Hawaii to get away from such wrong-headed cultural intolerance! Hawaii is unique in being the most...

I'd love to hear more Hawaiian (properly pronounced) as well. Someday, I even hope to find time to go beyond thumbing through a Hawaiian-English dictionary and actually take some classes to learn the...

Re: "Lost" - Season 4: Episode & Storyline Discussion

Yes, and Jack's reluctance to see Aaron is curious too. Is Jack somehow going to be responsible for separating Aaron from Claire? At least now we know who Kate had to get back to the night she meets...

With regard to the "knocks" against Keahi Tucker, I'm as sick and tired of them as everyone else! Sansei, we know who you're talking about whether you mention his name or merely allude to it. You...
