It's probably because you miss out on the fiber and 'meat' of the fruit or vegetable. You could always find ways to eat the leftovers from juicing your own.

Drying basil so that it doesn't turn black, but stays green and pretty (also works for other 'herbs'); put a few paper towles on a plate, cover with a single layer of basil (or other), top with more...
