  • How long will Deliliah last on KUMU Lite 94.7?

Because KUMU Lite 94.7 is now owned by Visionary Related Media, how long will Delilah last on that station? Maui's I-FM (KAOI FM 95.1/96.7) doesn't run Delilah. Another thing about I-FM is that their music mix includes 60s and 70s oldies, whereas Lite 94.7 only plays music of the 80s, 90s, and now, pretty much like Krater 96. Will Lite 94.7 keep Delilah or will it drop Delilah and thus be like Maui's I-FM?

I really don't know the insides of the local radio scene but unless Delilah has crappy ratings at KUMU, they would have dropped the show a long time ago. The question would then be what would take it's place?

You know, I'm embarassed to say it was a long time before I figured out that Delilah was a syndicated show beamed in from the Mainland. Up until then, I was actually kind of proud of our little state, generating such quality melodrama. "I want to dedicate this song to my girlfriend, and say I'm sorry I slept with her sister, and then wrecked her car, and then said her sister did it, and that was wrong, I know now, and I love you, Brandeen!"

It reminded me of the ridiculous late-night dedications they'd air on KRTR... do they still do that?

I don't know Visionary as a media company... why wouldn't they keep Delilah? I mean, what else is out there, syndication wise? Besides Casey Kasem, I mean? KUMU seems to me distinct enough from KDDB and KQMQ...

You are not alone in thinking that Delilah was initially a local program. I am not much of a radio listener but when I do listen it's normally KUMU-FM. Sometimes it's at night when Delilah is on and of course with the station id being You are listening to Delilah on KUMU. Makes you think it's a local DJ. After a while you notice things like why is the call in line has an area code (I think it was a 888 number), making references to home life on a farm and lack of references about Oahu.

I have nothing against syndicated radio shows, it's just that this one sort of passes pretty much like a local show.

Nothing much to watch on Monday night and for some strange reason Cartoon Network took off Aqua Teen Hunger Force from the Monday to Thursday schedule so I tunned in to KUMU.

There was a station break where Deliliah says Mahalo for listening to Deliliah on KUMU Lite 94.7. So one gets the feeling it's a local show (and forgetting about taped messages). As the show goes on they are talking about one of the kids finds a cat and then said cat turns out to be a racoon who then manages to hide in the attic.

Let's face it who in Hawaii has an attic in their house?

              Delilah Changing Radio Syndicators

From the Hawaii Radio & Television Guide

Nationally broadcast evening show hostess Delilah will be switching syndicators come the end of June. Her contract with Jones Radio Network expires in June. She will be moving her program to the Premiere Radio Network where she will join a growing stable of radio stars including Casey Kasem (American Top 20) and George Noory (Coast to Coast AM). No word on whether or not the change will effect the local broadcast of Delilah which currently airs in Honolulu on KUMU FM.

              -------------------------------

Most of Premiere's programs air on Clear Channel stations here in Honolulu. Could Delilah move to Clear Channel?

              Premiere Radio
              News Radio & Records*
              * The Radio & Records links will probably only show Delilah's story as the lead for only 1 day (today)

If Delilah does get yanked from KUMU Lite 94.7, maybe Jessica Rich can do a live and local "Love Songs" show.

Well it's been 5 months now and Deliliah is still on KUMU.

Decided to turn on the radio for some background noise tonight and sure enough Deliliah is still on KUMU.

What was interesting just a few minutes I posted this note she was talking to a long time listener who over some unknown period of time to me sent about around 200 email messages to her show.

For tonight he wanted her to play a song for him to dedicate his love to his wife of 15 years.

Talk about an old thread coming back to life. Yes, Delilah is still on KUMU. She is not the only syndicated night time radio show in Hawaii. KPOI has Alice Cooper in the nights. KHCM's whole day comes from the mainland. John Tish has a similar lovey dovey music show on KSSK AM. And then most talk & sports radio in Hawaii is syndicated from the mainland, some live, many recorded.

Who is Delilah? And is there a face to that name?

Better to listen to her than to John Tesh (everything went downhill since he left Entertainment Tonight).

The answers you seek might be found here, my son...

Delilah Rene is a single mom with eight kids, five of whom are adopted. She lives in the country near Manchester, WA (near Seattle). I've never met her, but those who have worked with her tell me she is very nice. A recent newspaper article from her hometown paper is here.

Maui's I FM 95.1/96.7 (KAOI) now features Delilah. As far as I can remember, I FM started featuring Delilah around late 2005/early 2006. Thus, I FM followed in the footsteps of KUMU FM 94.7.

She seems like a very nice lady. But that show sucks.
