  • UH Warriors lose to U-Dub

Early problems on defense, special teams and a key turnover were the difference in Hawai‘i losing 40-32 to a fired up Husky team. Darius Bright showed some early rust dropping a couple of easy balls for significant yardage. The Warriors’ biggest play came off a 99-yard interception by UH safety Richard Torres. As I said in a previous thread, the UH offense has got to get their passing attack in order if they want to get back on the winning track. The Colorado game listed it as a question mark. This loss punctuates confirmation it is a significant problem to be addressed. Clearly, miscommunication and misreads was the story all day. Unfortunately, this loss eliminates any chance for a big bowl invite, but UH can still do better than last season by winning the Hawai‘i Bowl this year. As it stands UH has the talent to win the WAC, but with its current membership, what does that prove?

    What happened to the defense?

I didn't know UH had to spot them 3 touchdowns to start the game.

Hard to find positives in this one, other than we weren't supposed to win and we actually could have, had we not gave it away numerous times. After last week this was essentially a must win to prove the new day, instead there's still plenty of work to do, but we're building every year under Mack.

I cannot agree that this was ANY kind of must-win, but it was certainly a disappointing loss. I listened on the radio so it's pretty close to impossible for me to give any kind of meaningful game analysis, but it sounds like Moniz is finding his groove and THAT's the most important offensive news.

I do want to say that I find John Veneri a much better color guy than I expected, and he's already better than Robert Kekaula in that role.

How was Kekaula in the TV play-by-play?

I didn't hear him. Which feed was he doing the game?

HaHAha! You didn’t seriously expect that Oceanic would send a crew to Washington, did you? Those cheapos simply took the RootTV feed featuring Tom Glasgow doing play-by-play and former Houston Oiler Warren Moon as color. I thought they did fairly well.

What the heck? Yes, I did seriously expect it. Does Oceanic not get that local pay-per-view subscribers want a home team experience? How the heck could Oceanic not pay for that when KFVE did for all those years?

I suppose this would have been the last year anyway; once UHM is in the Mountain West, we're going to see all kinds of changes to the way football looks in Hawaii. I still think that's a crappy move.

Enjoy your mediocre Warriors, if that's the case. If this wasn't one that was needed from a psych pov to maintain the new mo, then what is? We beat CU then revert right back to the old ways of WTF just happened? We needed another 2nd time out Mack moment many times last Sat.

The two missed extra points by UH and the two going U Washington way must have frustrate the bettors who had UH plus 6.

You need to spend more time in the “Hawai‘i Media” section, Scriv. Oceanic Time Warner cares less about what viewers want than what they will ‘tolerate.’ Why spend the extra buck on local talent when Oceanic TWC already has our money? Securing a contract with UH athletics was less about putting out a better product than KFVE — than it was forcing viewers to fork over their cash to Oceanic if they want to watch Hawai‘i sports on the tube.
