  • Your favorite new restaurant?

Someone asked me what my favorite new restaurant was today, and I had trouble answering, except for:

    Ha Long at City Square.

    The Counter (at Kahala Mall)

    The Golden Duck

Corner of King & Alder near Piikoi, accross from Zippys.

Newly remodeled, but retaining virtually everything before all that work...
It's classic American styled Chinese fare. Perfect pork fried rice, plenty on the dinner plate which is my usual @ $10.12, including tip!
Hot tea, but no fortune/almond cookie =
The rest of the dinner plate is beef brocoli, sweet sour short ribs, ginger chicken (must mean flavor-less chicken) that has some kind of awesome green onion topping that leaves the meat in the dust, and two won ton. I'm full after 3 parts and may not touch the chicken unless there's plenty meat for mustard/soyu.

Plus entertainment, consisting of the waitresses talking in 'English'.

The former. The basement level houses Margheritas plus a jazz bar. BTW, Starbucks closed. The owner of Bombay took that space and is opening a coffee bar before Christmas.

that is awesome, only in Hawaii can a s-bucks get put out.

Bombay really treated me well, I loved those guys/place.

When I had left, the basement place opened, but didnt have a booze license yet, and rumors swirled about the owner. . .of course, my intel from harbor pub was always rock solid

I am sure my old view is now blocked bu trumps place, but I am seriously considering moving back after my contract is up here.

Tattrat and Tutu were neighbors in same building in Waikiki??????? Lord help us! No wonder that neighborhood had a bad reputation!

excuse me for being a dummy, but why do you have the initials 'OBJ' after the word 'restaurant'? it's shown in some of your other posts, too.

We briefly lived a few floors apart before Tatt moved across the street which continued the decline of the 'hood! We kept trying to meet up but it just wasn't meant to be. We may have ridden the elevator at the same time, tho'. Who knows!

Who are you asking, Sharilyn? I don't see "OBJ" in any other post. I also am not fully awake!

Interesting. I don't see it on my Mac, but it's there when I look at it on my PC. If you look at the source code of this page, it shows as a "&#" and a series of 5 numbers. That usually means a special character, but I can't find out what it is.

I used to live just a few blocks from there too. Used to catch the bus right around there.

I was thinking maybe the OBJ stood for "objective", as maybe what restaurant one person likes, another will think is horrible.. I don't know.

On the subject of restaurants, I was rather fond of Inaba when I visited. Very cute, good food, authentic (as far as I could tell). Mmm, I haven't had good soba in months.

Tell me more about Zia's. I've been interested in that place for years but it's off my beaten path these day's and the timing's never right.
