  • TSA Employment

Has anyone worked as a Transportation Security Officer at the airport? What did you like or not like about the job? I know I can read up on it, but I'd like to hear real personal experiences. Thank you!

Hmmm... no replies. Does anyone know someone who worked as a TSA? Or heard anything about it?

      Re: TSA Employment

I'm guessing that a TSA worker can't say anything about their on the job experience because of national security at every airport.

Oh I see. Thanks. I was hoping to hear anything, even general stuff. I imagine most don't last; appears to be a stressful job.

          Hi, Sharilyn:

I actually know two people who work for TSA at HNL.
Both started as regular employees (screeners) and have worked their way up into line supervisory positions.

One is only an acquaintance; however, my personal opinion is that person is somewhat of a "stickler" when it comes to rule enforcement (that's as kindly as I can put it).
It would seem that the personality is suited to the occupation (lol) and that person has been with TSA for 5+ years.

The other person is a neighbor; he's a nice guy but I hardly ever see him. His work schedule is almost completely opposite mine (plus he's almost never home). I think he's been there for about 4 years.
I'll try to see if I can get any "inside scoops" from him if he happens to be around the house this weekend.

          Aloha,
          musubi
To be, or musubi... What was da question?

Of course they wouldn't be able to speak about anything specific in regards to security at airports but they should be free to speak about their general job experience/satisfaction etc.
