    Aloha and Happy Earth Day!!

To 'celebrate', me and the sweetie are not driving today. Anything we want to do is gonna get done by walking or riding the bus!

What are some other good Earth Day ideas? Is anybody else even interested?

    Re: Earth Day!

Okay, well I guess nobody else likes Earth Day, so here's my update-

TheBus is RAD!! I carpooled to Lanikai, swam at the beach, ate in Kailua, had my carpooling buddies drop me off at the bus stop on Kam Hwy, and I'm so glad I didn't let them drive out of their way to take me home (Ka'a'awa this week) because today I discovered TheBus.

There was a crazy guy talking and singing loudly waiting on the bench with me who was probably on drugs, so I read my newspaper while watching him out the corner of my eye. No problem. Then I boarded the wrong bus. As soon as it pulled away from the curb I gasped "Oh no" to myself, as we turned the wrong way. No problem. I didn't even ask the bus driver, but he stopped right away to let me off to catch the right bus, and gave me a transfer, as I had already paid. That's so nice!! Bus drivers never do that in LA!

Back to the bench with crazy guy. Next one came fairly quickly, and it was clean, uncrowded, well lit, kind driver, and peaceful atmosphere! Aaaah! The scenery is so pretty out TheBus window! Short ride home, safe and sound.

So that's my Earth Day story. I Love TheBus!

Earth is good. It deserves it own day!

The Bus ride sounds like it was fun. Did you recognize the song the guy was singing? Friendly driver. Free entertainment. Can't beat that.

      How was Kokua Fest?

I "celebrated" with as little power consumption as possible - which also meant less time on computers (other than what was required for my work, and even that was cut to 1/3 of usual), hence no reply here yesterday. Kept the TV off, used minimal lighting in the evening, rode the bus to work & home again (which I do most every day anyway), met with the residents of our building and discussed updates to our recycling program.

All little drops in a huge bucket - but enough people making enough little drops, and the bucket fills.

              Caught TheBus home from work.
Put off going to the bathroom as long as my bladder would allow.
Switched the default setting on the work color inkjet to "Draft."
Manually duplexed as many print jobs as feasible.
Turned off the ringer on my cell phone.

                Re: Earth Day!

I kept my home A/C off all day yesterday. Well...it wasn't exactly my idea. Condo management shut down the entire building's A/C to make repairs. Perfect day to do it!

Printed on both sides of paper which is something I do every day. I even hang on to junk mail letters that have one blank side! I, too, use draft mode whenever appropriate.

Took the elevator downstairs for lunch...instead of cooking!

Aw gee you were on such a roll until...Oh well at least the elevator was using gravity as it's energy source on it's downward run

<tee hee!> Would be highly inadvisable to shut down the elevators in a 42 story building in the name of Earth Day! There'd be a mutiny, I tell ya! Poor Mr. O who lives on the 34th floor. At 96, he'd still be negotiating the stairs in an attempt to get his morning coffee at McDs!
