  • New All-Time Favorites

I know there used to be a thread on all-time favorites but I can't seem to find it. Since my all-time favorites tend to change over time....... I thought I'd start a new thread devoted to new favorites.

Newest favorite - Herbie Hancock's "Possibilities". Excellent blend of old school jazz and more modern sound (I hesitate to say rock or pop) Herbie teams up with young(er) artists John Mayer, Christina Aguilera, Trey Anastasio, Jonny Lang & Joss Stone among others.

    Definitely on my recommend list!

Anything and everything by Aussie country legend LEE KERNAGHAN. He just won the very prestigious Australian of the Year honor and three more Golden Guitar Awards, upping his total to 27!!

That's worth it right there! Checking the iTunes Music Store, Possibilities also features another fave of mine, Raul Midon. Throw in Sting, Annie Lennox, Paul Simon, Santana and a credit balance in my ITMS account and...ooooooowheeee baby! Thanks for the heads up acousticlady.

Scrivener has started a new music thread as well - you two should combine your efforts, perhaps.

Have you heard his tribute album to songs of Joni Mitchell, "River"? Guest vocalists include Luciana Souza (I love her rendition of "Amelia," even though it stays close to the original), Corinne Bailey Rae, Leonard Cohen, Tina Turner, Norah Jones, and Mitchell herself; Wayne Shorter is also on the album.

Do you have his latest, "World Within A World"? In the same vein as the first album. Midon is playing here in Seattle next week, but I can't go, darn it, but KBCS community radio (the station where I do the Hawaiian music show) will be interviewing him live on Monday the 4th at 3:30 pm PT - streaming live on the web at kbcs.fm.

            Re: New All-Time Favorites

I maintain lists of year to year favorites. Here is a link to my Top 100 favorite hits from 2007. And for contrast a link to a list of favorites from 1998 and 1973. And when I remember to update it, I have my weekly current favorites of songs I play in iTunes and have on my iPods.

You can listen to a lot of my all time favorites and currents at my Finetunes music page.

To see what I recently played on my iTunes, there is my Last FM site which takes information from my playlists. Some of the music I play on iTunes which are tracked at Last FM can also be heard there. Last FM tracks both my favorite songs (or podcasts) and artists on a daily, weekly and all-time basis. I think it is a pretty cool service. Plus they have some free downloadable music too.
            I'm still here. Are you?

Well, it seems I'm a little behind on reading threads. Scrivener and I should combine here. Or maybe I'll just concede (is it a contest??) Any discussion of good music works for me. No matter who started it . And yes Leo, I have heard the Joni Mitchell tribute. I have been a big fan of Joni Mitchell's since waaay back in high school. And sorry I missed your interview. Would have loved to hear it.

On second thought, no need. That thread is clearly for 2008 releases; this one doesn't have that condition. Whee-ha!
